Poco prima di ucciderlo, però, si rende conto che l'usugnolo è una madre con dei piccoli e che i fili le servivano per il nido. Allora Paperino abbandona i suoi propositi, e i piccoli gli volano sulla testa. Così l'usignolo rimette in testa a Paperino il suo cappello (ridotto a un filo) e fa la pace con lui.
