In una comunità di disabili al centro di Roma giunge un gruppo di ragazzi per svolgere il servizio civile. Per loro è l'inizio di una vita completamente nuova, e l'occasione di confrontarsi con un mondo sconosciuto. Il giovane Matteo rifiuta dapprima questa nuova realtà, per poi accettarla gradualmente identificandosi con i problemi dei disabili.
