"Loro", diviso in due parti, è un racconto di finzione, in costume, che narra di fatti verosimili o inventati, in Italia, tra il 2006 e il 2010. Attraverso una composita costellazione di personaggi, "Loro" ambisce a tratteggiare, per squarci o intuizioni, un momento storico definitivamente chiuso che, in una visione molto sintetica delle cose, potrebbe definirsi amorale, decadente, ma straordinariamente vitale. E "Loro" ambisce altresì a raccontare alcuni italiani, nuovi e antichi al contempo. Anime di un purgatorio immaginario e moderno che stabiliscono, sulla base di spinte eterogenee quali ambizione, ammirazione, innamoramento, interesse, tornaconto personale, di provare a ruotare intorno a una sorta di paradiso in carne e ossa: un uomo di nome Silvio Berlusconi.

Quando il Mondo degli Spiriti viene allagato a causa di una insolita pioggia che inonda il fiume Sanzu, il Piccolo Enma avverte la presenza di un nemico estremamente potente, ed incarica Botan di consegnare a Yusuke un misterioso oggetto che deve essere protetto ad ogni costo dal nemico invasore. Tuttavia, quando Botan riesce ad entrare in contatto con Yusuke, è talmente indebolita da non riuscire a spiegare del tutto la situazione. Yusuke e i suoi amici sono quindi all'oscuro della nuova minaccia, che però non tarderà a rivelarsi. Yusuke e gli altri dovranno affrontare una delle più difficili e dure battaglie per la Terra, affrontando Yakumo, re del Mondo degli Inferi (il precedente aldilà del mondo dei demoni, sigillato nell'Universo delle tenebre da Re Enma molti secoli prima) e i suoi tre Arcidiavoli, aiutati dall'amica di Botan Hinageshi.
